Our Story
Thrive Academy was founded in 2011 by former teacher Sarah Broome, born from a vision to create greater opportunity for students often left behind. Following the loss of a student, she reimagined what was possible, an environment where young people, regardless of background, could access stability, support, and a high quality education. In 2017, Thrive Foundation was established to advance that vision, providing the resources and support needed for students to fully thrive.
Since 2017, Thrive Foundation has been the philanthropic force behind Thrive Academy, raising essential funds to fill the gap between state support and the real cost of residential schooling.
The Foundation supports students beyond their academic needs by ensuring access to a safe residential environment and consistent food security. Through collaboration with local organizations, it provides essential life skills and real-world opportunities, including swimming lessons, driver’s education, and internships that prepare students for success beyond the classroom.
Guided by the mission to support students academically, emotionally, and socially, Thrive Foundation has helped turn Sarah’s vision into a reality. Today, the Academy serves over 200 students with a 24-hr learning environment and has established itself as a top-performing school, earning an “A” for student growth in 2025.
As the Academy continues to grow, the Foundation will evolve alongside it, ensuring all students reach their fullest potential.
